Laboratory of Drug and Gene Delivery Research

Drug delivery system (DDS) are being developed in order to decrease side effects and to increase therapeutic efficacy of a drug by controlling its distribution in the body. Recently, DDS is essential technology and is applied for many medicines.

We have focused on the establishment of drug delivery system and strategy for cancer therapy, which are effective and less side effect. We have developed lipid-based nanoparticles of CpG oligodeoxynucleotides by changing immune-microenvironment to achieve cancer immunotherapy, and microbubble and ultrasound mediated hyperthermia for cancer therapy. In addition, we have developed microbubbles and ultrasound mediated drug and gene delivery system to the tumor tissue and brain by enhancing the blood vascular permeability.

A few of our recent projects:

・Immunomodulation of nanoparticles mediated hyperthermia in cancer therapy

・Microbubbles and ultrasound mediated hyperthermia in cancer therapy

・Blood brain barrier opening using microbubbles and ultrasound for drug and gene delivery

・Anti-cancer drug delivery using microbubbles and ultrasound

・Immunomodulation by novel nanoparticelses derived from natural source
