Center for Promotion of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (Basic Training Unit)

Outline of Center
This Center supports the undergraduate program, mainly the laboratory training of students (first to fourth-year students) by performing maintenance and management of laboratory instruments and labware in the practical rooms. The Center also plans and practices the first laboratory training of chemistry and biology for first-year fresh students, which become the basis for subsequent practical steps in the specialized subjects of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Our research focuses on 1) analytical chemistry of biomedicals and biopharmaceuticals, and 2) neuropharmacology.
1) Fluorimetric determination by HPLC with postcolumn photoirradiation targetting tryptophan-related compounds such as kynurenic acid, picolinic acid, and pharmaceutical monitoring, food analysis (natto product and sake monitoring technology). While developing these methods, we are discovering new technologies and incorporating them into the methods.
2) Pharmacological and neurochemical studies on side effects of Parkinson's disease therapy.
