Outline of Research
We have been investigating the following subjects.

(1)
Enzymes responsible for metabolism of platelet-activating factor (PAF) which is a chemical mediator of inflammatory and allergic reactions. Elucidation of the enzymes that synthesize and degrade PAF should help to clarify the molecular mechanism of inflammatory and allergic reactions and lead to the development of clinical applications.

(2)
Enzymes responsible for metabolism of very-long-chain fatty acid (VLCFA) which accumulates in the body of patienst with several genetic diseases. Elucidation of the enzymes that synthesize and degrade VLCFA should help to clarify the molecular mechanism of such diseases and lead to the development of clinical applications.
