Outline of Research
We have been developing the measurement technique and restructuring model of brain receptor occupancy by brain-acting drugs. The pharmacological effects in the brain are related to brain receptor occupancy, but not necessarily blood concentration of drugs. Thus, the drug monitoring based on brain receptor occupancy should be more useful than the therapeutic drug monitoring based on blood concentration. We challenge optimization of dosage regimen of brain-acting drugs based on the receptor occupancy theory.
